The cat, the mexican bat and nothing else

For a couple of days now I have been noticing that someone has been messing with my Halloween decorations outside our door. At first I naively believed that it was just the wind playing games that caused poor Kitty McKitters to be tangled around. I have now seen the truth; there is a hater among us.  When I committed to bringing my neighbors the best Halloween look ever outside my door, I did expect some jealously issues. I was concerned that someone would steal Kitty McKitters and use him for their own Halloween ultimate look. I was not prepared for the psychological games these people are playing with my poor kitty and me. Clearly these people underestimate my ability to stand outside the door and watch ALL day long. And when I catch them I will chase them away with my wooden Mexico baseball bat. I will defend my kitty’s honor until the end, and by end I mean Halloween day because that’s when I’m taking him down so kids don’t think I have candy for them.

I love my wooden Mexico bat, it’s been with me for a long time. My dad first gave it to me to keep by my bed for protection against intruders or he thought my brother’s friends would try to break into my room or something. Unlike the knives this is one phobia that my dad successfully passed down to me. I always made sure to lock my room door and kept my bat by my side. To this day my bat keeps me company just in case someone happens to get pass our door lock, the deadbolt and the alarm. What I don’t understand is where the bat came from? My parents had never been to Mexico until recently, my grandparents never traveled and who in their right mind brings a wooden bat back from their vacation? Now that I’m thinking about it I wouldn’t doubt it if my dad rescued the bat from the trash.

To call it a baseball bat doesn’t really do it justice. It’s really just a wooden decorative bat. The bat is green, red, orange and yellow and depicts your stereotypical native Mexican Indian. The words Mexico are carved in the upper center. Seriously, I wouldn’t even pay half a peso for it. To be made out of wood it’s pretty light, is it made out of wood? Not important. This bat will save my life one day, and possibly might even save Kitty McKitters from being harassed ever again.
