Unplugged

It seems I have forgotten that my alter ego as Mrs. Merle exits. I have ignored the blog for way to long and that makes me sad. I can't blame it on my job since I only work part time, so let's not pretend I'm way too busy to blog. I can't really blame it on my new motherly duties with Jake, because he doesn't talk and spends his days sleeping around the house. I guess I have blame it on my lack of fun and creative thoughts lately.

I think overall I have been unplugged from the online world. I haven't really been on Facebook much, I stopped doing my online surveys and have not really paid attention to any of the blogs I used to read regularly.

We survived the holidays and I am in a serious post holiday hangover mood. Husband was off work for two weeks and he sat around the house with Jake. It was really nice to spend the morning with him before I had to head off to work. But now, we are back to a normal schedule. Except, I forgot what the normal schedule was supposed to be like.

Our New Year's we spent sitting around the house. I think I was in the shower and getting ready for bed when it struck  midnight, but this year we didn't feel like going out or making a big deal of anything. Now with the new year here I guess I need to make changes? The funny thing is that I could probably copy and paste last year's New Year entry and make it the same goals for this year. Which means I failed last year. Again.

In 2011.......
  • Had multiple jobs to finally land a job that I LOVE.
  • Failed miserably at working out or losing weight.
  • Husband and I bought a house.
  • Rescued a dog.
In 2012 I hope to....
  • Be funny again. Get back to blogging regularly.
  • Take Jake for walks more often.
  • Continue to have fun at work.
  • Make new friends.
  • Be more positive (this is hard y'all).
Hope the New Year started great for everyone!

Hello Twenty Six

I have yet again started a new job. I seriously hope this is the last time because I cannot handle going on interviews again and starting all over. I'm pretty excited about this job, the owners of the company are really nice and outgoing and so are the rest of the people that work there. I got this job on my own, I actually found the ad on craigslist. So after everything that I went through working for a temp agency I just needed a little bit of luck and the right job. The best part about the new job is that it's five minutes away from the house, exactly what I wanted.

Besides the new job things have been pretty quiet around here still. I feel like I've lost my ability to write funny blog entries, and when you have to try that's how you know it's not meant to be. I celebrated my 26th birthday this past week and it was overall okay. The actual day of my birthday was a little lame but I husband made up for it for the rest of the weekend. It really should be my birthday weekend every weekend, I think that would make it a better world.

I will admit that having Jake around is amazing. I wonder if this is how it feels like to have kids, except I wanted a dog. Sometimes I look at him and just smile. Except now my house has become super dirty and there's dog hair EVERYWHERE. I have always hated going to people's houses that have dog hair and its gets all over your clothes. Well, now that's my house. Poor husband, he now has to deal with Jake hair and Merle hair everywhere. It only makes sense I would find a dog that sheds more than me.

For some reason I've been extremely emo recently. I think it has something to do with growing up. I became a teacher straight out of college and from there I got married. I never had a chance to breath and really think about what I wanted from life. I think that's why I have been such a failure this past year. There are so many things that I want to accomplish, from putting money into home improvements to getting a new car. I can't do those things unless I am making money. I guess I've been feeling like a professional failure because I feel like I have a college diploma and haven't accomplished much in my life. But, I like what I do right now. I like being a receptionist and helping in a office. Do I want to be more? Yes, sometimes I do but I don't know what that is. Life is difficult and I honestly think it's not meat to be figured out. Right now I'm working on being a better Mrs. Merle. It's not going so well so I should probably work harder at it.

Happy Blogniversary!

Happy Anniversary Blog!

Today marks one year since The Chronicles of a Domestic Engineer was launched into the web, as a way to keep me entertained. Let's revisit some of the things that were going on a year ago compared to what's going on today.

  1. I was unemployed and making no money
  2. Hated to cook, do laundry and pretty much anything domestic
  3. Was living in an apartment with the worst upstairs neighbors ever
  4. Successfully gained tons of weigh after the wedding
  5. Was sad and lonely for most of the day
Today...
  1. Still unemployed and making no money
  2. I hate laundry even more now and I still dislike the cooking although I do it to make me feel more like a good wife
  3. Now we live in a HOUSE! And don't know any of our neighbors.
  4. Have made absolutely no attempts of losing weight
  5. Now I have Jake to ignore me and sleep all day long
Well it looks like it wasn't a very productive year at all. That's lame.

Here are some Blog Stats for the past year:

Total Page views: 1,926 (I'm sure half of those are from me)

Top 3 most viewed posts:
  1. You Know You are Unemployed When
  2. Top 5 Ridiculously Awesome Christmas Presents
  3. Introducing my Nemesis
As to my audience it looks like people from all over have been stopping by, which I'm not sure I should be excited about or scared by. There's nothing worst than having an international stalker. Write that down.

I do have a few friends that live outside of the US, for example, Dominican Republic I only know one person that lives there and is as awesome as me. *wink wink*  Canada I'm not quite sure who I know there but they stop by often so it must be someone that does like me. But, what really surprised me the most were the 10 views from Latvia. Yes, thank you for the geography lesson reader because I had no idea were Latvia was. Now I know somewhere there loves me. I should make a shirt yes, I will work on that.

Thank you all for making it a great first year of blogging. I hope to keep it up.

Anniversary Fireworks. Yay!

One month later

I have been away from the blog entirely too long. So much has changed since the last time I actually sat down and wrote an update blog that I really don't know where to start. But I guess the really important thing is the announcement of our new family member - Jake.

Jake also known as Jakey
After four months, the temp assignment that I was working on ended. It was a place that I really enjoyed and I was sad for it to end. In the end I made some friends and really enjoyed my time there. The best part about it is that I got Jake out of it. One of the friends I made is involved with a rescue group in Dallas and with her help we adopted Jake. I've wanted a dog for a while but I was not emotionally prepared for how attached we would become to him. After a weekend of having him at home husband and I knew that we had to have him. So now he is officially a Burrow.

I know the first thing that you guys want to ask if how Rusty gets along with him. Well I admit that Rusty has to spend most of his time in the closet but sometimes he does come out and play.
Jake and Rusty being friend

So I guess you can say things are going pretty good around here. I'm unemployed again but at least this time when I get bored I can bother Jake. I can now feel like a real house wife since we have the big house, although it really needs to be decorated.

I have several differing things that I want to blog about but I will have to come back to those later.

Be back soon, I promise.

Lets make it a Happy Day

Hi! I know that I've been a terrible blog writer, ignoring my bog duties for the past couple of weeks so I want to apologize for that. I apologize. I also want to start by saying, hurray I have a new follower! I'm pretty excited that I now have 5 official followers. This is really a great honor and I love you my blogger friends.

When I started the blog back in September my main goal was to use it as a way to make me happy, I didn't want another source where I would just have a pity party, but a place where I could share my Iphone rants and be happy about it. (By the way, remind me to tell you about this whole Google + thing). Recently, there's been some things have been going to that made me sad and at one point I wanted to write about it, but then I realized that writing about it just made those things more hurtful.

The Brownie taught me that I have to make myself happy, that it is my job to smile when people are bringing me down. So that's what I decided to do. So today I am making sure to have a great day, because I say so damn it.

Furthermore, I think it's finally time to announce that Husband, Rusty and I are moving to a new place. We are buying a house! Get excited. This means that I can add to my list of titles - house owner extraordinaire. Just be certain that once the home improvement projects begin I will have more than enough material to keep everyone entertained on the blog. We are so close to buying a house that we should be closing on it any day now (I'm still hoping today, but it's not looking like it).

In other news, I can't wait to go see Ron Weasley. I don't deny it anymore! I like Ron and everyone can judge all they want. I especially love my Lego Ron, he is a good friend. I think I love Ron so much because in the books he grows and changes into being a bad ass. I'm sad that in the movie they make him look like he's dumb. Regardless to all your Ron fans here's a great link: Ron Weasley Through the Years.

And of couse I can't end the entry without an awesome pictures of, well Ron.

Yes, I'm pretty awesome and serious like. Check me out I rolled up my sleeves.

Less hair and yummy food

Hello Bloggers!

I made the best meal ever today! Now you have to understand that my cooking skills are pretty basic, I am great at following recipes and/or cooking things that I remember that my mom made. Tonight's dinner follows in a new category, taking something my mom used to cook and added awesomeness. For dinner tonight husband and I had Churasco with lime, served with Lime Cilantro rice and green beans. The green beans didn't really go together but we needed a veggie and that's all I had at home.

Here is the awesome snap shot! It might not look as delicious as it was, but my tummy really liked it.

Yay for yummy food! In other news I cut my hair, I know you are wondering why this is a big deal, so I made the following before and after drawing to explain it better.

As you can see I lost a lot of hair. Oh, did I not mention that I'm not artistic, sorry if I didn't. I thought that would be easier to draw but it was not.

Okay well that's all.
