A Blue Pants Wearing Kinda Girl

I work at an office with really pretty women, who have great fashion sense. So in an effort to not look like a total chola at the work place I have tried to come up with cuter more fashionable things to wear. Overall, fashion is not my thing. In fact, I am annoyed by the whole concept of people getting together to discuss other people's outfits. There are enough horrible things happening in our world to have fashion be a legitimate concern, what a waste of time. So in hopes of being a better fashionista my shopping goal is easy - from now on I will buy things that I would never really choose to wear.

Enter blue pants, yes I said blue. If you would have told me five years ago that I would one day wear blue pants, I'm pretty sure I would have punched you in the face. True story.  I somehow decided that blue pants will mark a great success in my fashion record. I wore those bad boys this past Tuesday and I was actually surprised that not a single person commented on my outfit. I mean, my shirt wasn't very pretty (I need to find a better top to go with my glorious pants) but seriously I'M WEARING BLUE PANTS HERE PEOPLE.

I'm pretty sure that if someone walked into my office wearing blue pants I would for sure comment on those. When someone wear blue pants it should be an understood sign that comments are wanted. I'm not saying that I wanted to hear people tell me they looked good or I looked good. I don't care about that. I wanted people to acknowledge that my pants were blue. That I possibly looked like a smurf. I mean blue pants! Seriously do I need to go on.

The ridiculous pants. I took this picture at the end of the day and they were a little baggy by then. Hopefully after washing them they will shrink some.

525,600 Minutes

I can't believe it's already August, it seems like time has gone by so fast, especially since I've been working. It looks like my temp assignment is coming to an end but that's a whole blog post of it's own. We finally moved in to our house and after LOT's of craziness we can finally settled down and can start fully unpacking and making it our own. I have to say there's been a lot of craziness going on lately, from getting the house and moving, to things that were happening relating to my work, it feels like husband and I have had a rough couple of weeks. But, we were so excited to celebrate our anniversary this past Sunday.

Husband and I are a pretty relaxed couple, we are both pretty low maintenance and don't make too big of a deal about things like anniversaries and birthdays. So, we celebrated in our own style. Saturday we had a friend over at the house and played Harry Potter Clue, Yes, we are nerds. Husband surprised me with roses so that was cute of him. On Sunday we woke up early and went to see Captain America, which actually turned out to be much better than I thought. After the movie we went to the mall and did a little bit of shopping to get ready for a wedding in Ft Worth next weekend, which will be in itself part of the anniversary celebration since we are staying in a hotel for the weekend. The rest of the afternoon we spent at home eating cake and me drinking Tang mimosas...yes I said Tang.

Recently husband has been buying the orange powerages which I told him tasted like Tang, since I said that I have not been able to stop thinking about Tang. So he got me some at the store, yay. So cake, tang mimosas, and lot's of tv watching later we had a fabulous night relaxing at our new house. I have to say it was overall a pretty good day. And who knew year old cake would actually taste good.

My awesome creation of fancy champagne and Tang. They were a total success.

Our old cake that ended up being delicious

My pretty flowers : )

Date Night

I was pretty excited when I found out they were opening a Lego Discovery Land so close to me, because as mentioned before I do like LEGOs. I found out recently that you can't visit the facility unless you are taking a kid there, which I find completely ridiculous and it has to be some kind of discrimination. I mean seriously, just because I don't have a kid does not mean that I should not be able to enjoy my time with the LEGOs. This really enraged me and I was planning on writing a whole blog entry about how it's not fair that I can't do things because I don't have a child, but I forgot.

Fast-forward a couple of weeks and husband decides to take me on a super romantic date out, keep in mind that he only did this because he had been really mean to me the weekend prior to this romantic date. On our romantic date we went to eat at Maggiano's which we both really like and then we went walking around one of the big malls here in the big D when we came across a LEGO store. I was way excited, you can tell in this picture that husband took.

LEGO store + Mrs. Merle = Great Night

And since husband was feeling guilty about being mean he even agreed to buy me some Harry Potter key chains (I really wanted the big $100 dollar Hogwarts castle but he said no). I also only wanted one key chain but since they were buy two get one free I ended up with this Harry Potter LEGO posse.

Dobby, Ron and Harry
Of course, only one key chain made it to my set of keys.
Check out his cool hair...he is so cool, too bad he's not this cool in the movies.

I have to say that overall it was a pretty good date since I got to have Ron, he will follow me everyone now, with his boyish good looks and cute stylish hair, his little LEGO arms and legs even move. I have to say that I am a pretty easy person to impress, but really it's the little things in life that really matter, like tiny LEGO's.

4 snow days, 3 books and 1,000 views

I live in Texas, which is why it's such a big deal when I look outside my window and I see this.

Texas Winter Wonderland!
The past 4 days have been pretty interesting with this crazy weather. Yes, I usually stay home anyways but being trapped inside with husband is way different from me staying at home alone. Our snow days have been filled with watching HGTV (thanks to husband) and my obsessive reading to keep me from having to pay attention to the TV.  In 3 days I managed to read 3 books on my Kindle, and now I'm a little sad that I have no other books to read. Most of the day husband just complained that I wasn't paying attention to him but he's the one that got me the Kindle so I wouldn't talk to him at night, what better time to use it that when you are trapped inside your home.

Having experienced my first set of snow days I have realized a couple of things about snow days. First Walgreens is the place to go, apparently they make their employees report to work no matter what. Funny enough husband and I really hate working out, but having these snow days made us go walking to Walgreens twice, both times it was a very happening place. Also for every snow day expect to gain at least 5 pounds, for some reason cold and being trapped at home makes you eat anything you find at home. Sadly, the redbox does not like snow days so don't count on him to provide those cheap DVDs.

In more amazing news I've made it to 1,000 blog views! I am way excited reaching this milestone of my blog life. I feel like I should have a giveaway contest, everyone gets free cake until I reach 2,000 views. Yay! Wait I don't have that much cake. I guess it will be imaginary cake. The whole 1,000 views makes me wonder how many of those page views were me or husband, I bet a good 50%.

Stay warm everyone!

Lego cowboys singing songs

I am convinced that husband and I have the overall worst luck ever. I never win at anything that has to do with luck and no matter how many surveys I fill out after visiting restaurants I never get the "daily" sweepstakes reward. I'm pretty sure if there was a raffle with only me and another person I would always lose. But this weekend I discovered someone with even worst luck than me, the poor soldier that sat next to me on our plane ride to San Diego. After traveling for 48 hours on his way back to San Diego from Afghanistan he gets to sit next to me for 3 hours while I coughed, sneezed and blew my nose extremely loudly every five second. I felt so bad for the poor guy who I'm sure by now also has Strep throat. The most embarrassing part was when a cute little Asian lady kept giving him cough drops to pass to me, she was sweet, the guy was sweet too but he never had a chance. I'm sorry little GI soldier, I hope you have someone to take care of you.

My trip to San Diego would have been much better if I wasn't dying half the time and if we had time to go to Legoland. Yes, you read that right I love Legos, actually I love anything that has to do with Legos. I recently found out that they are opening a Legoland Discovery Center in Dallas, I'm pretty sure I will be there the day it opens. In fact, I would love to work for a Legoland. I was never very creative with my Lego building, but if they gave me instructions and a million Legos I could build whatever they wanted.

I went on their website but they aren't any openings in America, apparently they are only hiring people for places like Mexico and Denmark (which is apparently where Legos are made). I wonder if husband wants to move to Denmark? The moment a Lego job comes online I hope I find out about it. I would love to make little LEGO cowboys and cowgirls (you know since it's Texas and all).

Being in San Diego reminded me how much I love Texas and really don't like change. Upon our return husband and I went to see Country Strong which led me to the conclusion that I should be a country singer and sing duets with really cute boys like husband. This is my back up plan since they are no Lego jobs. Husband and I would be the best country duo ever. Husband did not seem very interested when I told him my plan to be the next country duo star, but no worries he will come around when I show him the lyrics to my awesome songs (which I haven't written yet). I think I would be perfect for country music, most of my day is pretty depressing so that should give me a lot of material for me to sing about.

All this country madness is making me think that maybe I'm turning a little country, which is a scary thought. I do love watching the Singing bee on CMT and I have to admit some of those songs are pretty catchy. No, I can't let it turn me into the dark side. I must fight it, I bet I would look adorable as a little Lego Cowgirl.

'Tis the Season to paint?

A couple of weekends ago Best friend was in town and she took me to a very special place. In this place you end up buying things that you never knew you wanted but for some reason realize that your house would suck without, that's how I got suckered into my latest obsession - wood painting. The first time I visited this place called Hobby Lobby I purchased a cute flat wooded reindeer to paint as something to keep me busy during the week. Best friend and Husband had no idea that an innocent trip to Hobby Lobby would end up costing Husband more than he wanted. So I present to you my Christmas decorations. For this holiday going to the Dollar Store was not enough, instead I hand painted the decorations. Yes, be impressed.

The first collection are things that you can use to decorate around the house or hang them outside.

Very nice I know.

I now present to you my next Christmas decoration, my hand painted nativity set. This took me forever to complete but as you can see it was worth every moment.

Yes, I know you are impressed again. I took a picture of the Christmas tree, which is not as amazing cause I didn't paint it myself.

Yes, everything is sitting on top of a A&M trunk which I guess is not very Christmas like.

I'm not going to lie I'm pretty proud of my Christmas decorating, I put a lot of hard work into these babies. I should start a business painting little baby Jesus for a profit, what could be better than that?

Funny story as I was taking out the Christmas tree decorations that I stole from my brother, I mean my brother gave to me, I found a wonderful Merry Christmas sign. I was excited about it because I didn't really want to put one my wooden beauties outside for them to be messed with as Kitty McKitters was during Halloween. Yesterday morning Husband found this outside our door.

The M from Merry and Ch from Christmas were completely destroyed. I guess maybe it's not such a Merry Christmas after all. Husband is convinced that the She Hulk and her spawn were responsible of this. Since it's Christmas and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I am watching them.

I hope they have Chick Fil A in Heaven

Living in the Big D has proven to be more fun that I first expected. Husband and I have gone out a few times around the city with our friend Hermione Granger and are enjoying our new life here. There are a lot of things in the Big D that you can't find in Houston, among the most important is the Double Drivethru Chick Fil A. Yes, you heard correctly. If you are a loyal fan of the blog you know that my loyalty to Chick Fil A is unbroken, there is no place more magical (yes, not even DisneyWorld). Husband and I quickly learned about the new Chick Fil A in one of our many adventures but we had not gone to experience it first hand.

On our way to the parent's house for Thanksgiving we decided to visit the magical place. I really tried to document the events that took place that beautiful Wednesday early afternoon-ish because I knew my faithful readers would be very interested to know.

As we reached the magical place the line of cars was past the entrance into the service road, in true Chick Fil A lunch hour fashion. Eventually it was time to choose, left or right.

We really wanted to experience everything the double drivethru had to offer, so we opted for going into the second line, the line that we knew was the second drivethru. We wanted to find out for sure how the magical food reached it's second window.

Unfortunately for us, once we made a decision it became clear that everyone wanted to experience the magic of the second drivethru and for unknown reasons it took longer to move. The unknown reason became clear when we saw that the first lane got to order first.  This was very sad for husband as seen here (his true identity has been protected against stalkers.)

Notice how no one was on the first lane.

Alas after much waiting we managed to reached the window to our awesome food. Husband and I had been debating for along time about how the food reached the mini building so we were really excited when we made it to get our food and found this.

How Does the Food Get Over Here? Your food is transported in buckets on a conveyor system, similar to an electric train.

And the mystery is solved! At here we reached the end of our journey through the double drivethru Chick Fil A. Goodbye friend!

Unfortunately for our experience apparently the drink machine in the second lane is broken because both our drinks were flat and tasted gross, and now that I think about it I don't think the lady said "My Pleasure" once.

The Ultimate Halloween look

Hello World!

The blog has undergone some minor changes, a witty new title and some new colors. I wish I could tell you this will be the last time, but really with me you never know. I imagine that over its time alive the blog will go through many changes, I understand this might be upsetting to those of you who do not like change.  But all I can say is...please keep reading the blog cause I don't have many friends.

Talking about friends, my friend Hermione Granger (her true identity has been protected against stalkers) suggested the name change and I liked it. So I went with it.  Special shout out to Hermione on her birthday yesterday. I love my friends. Where was I going with this...I don't remember anymore.

Well here is my real point. I love Halloween. Yes. Why? I'm not sure.  I wanted to share with you world how a true housewife decorates for Halloween. Since I'm a teacher I have broken this down into several steps.

1. Go to the Dollar Store as soon as possible, preferably in September when they are just setting up for Halloween.

2. Purchase 2 to however many decorations you would like. Personally I wanted to keep it low key since I'm pretty sure most of the people in my apartment community don't celebrate Halloween due to their religious beliefs. I'm already the white girl, I didn't want to add devil worshiper to the list of comments they probably think about me.

3. Place them outside in the most convenient way possible. The key here people is to make it look like you didn't put any effort into. You will accomplish this by not putting any effort into it all.

If you follow these instructions you might be able to accomplish this Halloween look outside your front door.

Yes, I like it too!

The only problem I had is that I purchased my Halloween kitty way too early, so he sat around in the house and I began to talk to him. His name is Kitty McKitters and he is a very good listener. I promised him that if he didn't get stolen he could return to his corner in the house.

Husband says he's not real, but he's just jealous that McKitters gets attention.

The end.
